Phosphorus Mitigation In Facultative, Partial, And Complete Mix Wastewater Ponds

The latest white board video from Medora Corporation explains how. (Go To Video)

Phosphorus is an abundant and naturally occurring element essential to all life on earth.  Excessive phosphorus release into water ways and water bodies can cause eutrophication which leads to environmental complications such as dense plant, algae, and cyanobacteria growth.  Wastewater can be a significant source of phosphorus release but with proper treatment, a lot can be done to mitigate the phosphorus problem.

One of the more common strategies is to apply chemical compounds (i.e. alum, ferric chloride) to precipitate phosphorus out of the water column.  This helps create a cleaner, more phosphorus-free water for release.

How to get precipitating compounds to work better?floating wastewater mixer

The key for most chemical applications is to use as little as possible yet still achieve the desired result.  Traditional application methods can be a costly endeavor requiring more people, more time, and more overall resources; however, the game is changed when using floating wastewater mixers for chemical distribution.

Floating wastewater mixers create an optimum interaction environment that can help precipitate more phosphorus using less chemical. It’s a phosphorus win-win with all the added treatment benefits effective mixing provides for your wastewater ponds.
